Thomas Gaston Obituary

Thomas “Tom” Gaston passed from this life to the next on June 19, 2020. He was 58 years and lost a very short-lived battle with cancer. He is not suffering any more, praise God. Tom had a great love for his family; his wife of 39 years, MaryBeth; son, Brandon and his wife, Alonna and their two children; daughter, Freida and her three children.

He was born November 14, 1961 in Peshawar, Pakistan while his father, who was in the Air Force and was stationed there. Tom’s roots run deep in Bandera, where his great grandfather, Amasa Clark, was the first permanent settler. He grew up in San Antonio in various locations, which gave him the ability to navigate San Antonio very well. Letting him drive was stress free.

And speaking of driving, Tom was a trucker and drove 18 wheelers over the road for 33 years and took great pride in being one of the best. He was a true professional. A million miles with no accidents. An old school trucker, who took pride in keeping an honest log, even embraced the new electronic log and following DOT rules and regulations. His driving abilities were exceptional, he could back that rig up into even the most difficult docks. He was always willing to help the other truckers and believed in the allegiance that truckers should have between them. He was a walking map in many cases.

Tom loved history and had a memory bank that he could share facts and information with pleasure.

Tom knew Jesus was his Savior and John 3:16 was his favorite Bible verse.

He will be remembered and missed by family, friends, and acquaintances he encountered along the way on his trips from Texas to California and back. Thank you God for this precious life that has returned to you.
