Tommy C. Van Ostrand, 81, passed away from the life on April 13, 2022, at his home in Mountain Home. He was born Dec. 31, 1940, in Houston to Elmer and Jewel Van Ostrand. He attended Smiley High School in Houston then served in the US Navy.
Tommy married Elvira on August 10, 1984, in the Philippines. Tommy lived for over 50 years in Healy, Alaska working as a heavy equipment operator before retiring to the Hill Country. He was a member of the Kerrville Elks Lodge #2081. He was a true outdoors man as an avid hunter and fisherman.
He was preceded by his parents; son, Destry Van Ostrand sister Londalean Miller; and brothers, Wardell and Bob Van Ostrand.
Tommy is survived by his wife, Elvira; sons, Tommy C. Van Ostrand Jr. (Jean) of Healy, AK, Shane Van Ostrand of Warren, MI, Shannon Van Ostrand of White, GA, Jody Van Ostrand (Nicole) of White, GA, and Arnel Van Ostrand of Seattle, WA; sister, Pat Osuna of Ingram; 9 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
