Yrinia Sanchez Pruneda, 85, passed away peacefully from this life on March 11, 2024, in Kerrville. Before her passing she was living in Rosharon, Texas enjoying time spent with her two children.
She was born on Sept. 18, 1938, in Yancey, Texas to Manuel and Margarita Sanchez. The family resided in Yancey, where she was the youngest child of thirteen. Yrinia was the last living child of the family. She was married to late Pedro Tovar and survived by Jesus Pruneda Jr.
She worked in the health care field as a CNA for Colonial Nursing Home (now known as Waterside) and a sterile processing technician for Sid Peterson Hospital.
Yrinia dedicated her life to the care of her children and grandchildren. She would cook for any family and social function. She was known for her Mexican food, but her specialty was homemade tortillas and praline candies.
She had a special love of all animals with a fondness for cats. She would take time to bottle feed any kitten that was left behind. She enjoyed a great cup of coffee and time shared with friends. Music was another interest of Yrinia’s and most did not know she was an amazing dancer.
Yrinia is survived by her children, Selma Gamsby, and Jesus Pruneda III; grandson (she raised) Jacob Pruneda; also 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Her memory will live on with her other family members and dear friends.
