Funeral Director/Owner
Melissa Hernandez is a licensed funeral director through the Texas Funeral Service Commission and proudly serves as the second-generation owner of Wright’s Funeral Parlor. With over 22 years of hands-on experience, Melissa brings a rare combination of professional expertise and deeply personal care to the families she serves.
She graduated with honors from San Antonio College’s Mortuary Science Program in 2002 and is also a licensed Notary Public and a bonded Pre-Need Funeral Agent certified by the Texas Department of Insurance. In 2019, Melissa became a partner in the funeral home alongside her mother, Cynthia Wright, and grandfather, Bobby Wright — continuing a legacy of service with a new generation of leadership.
Currently pursuing a certification in grief counseling, Melissa is committed to expanding how Wright’s supports families — not just during funeral planning, but in the emotional journey that follows.
Melissa and her family are active members of Calvary Temple Church in Kerrville, and she is a proud member of the Kerrville Women’s Chamber.
She married Victor Hernandez in 2000, and together they’ve raised their family in Harper. Victor is the store manager for Home Depot in Boerne and has been with the company for over 19 years. While not present daily at the funeral home, Victor plays a vital supporting role — offering steady help behind the scenes and stepping in wherever needed. Whether it's assisting with events, helping with logistics, or being a sounding board during difficult days, his partnership makes a meaningful difference.
Melissa and Victor are parents to Kristina, Nicholas, Cale, Taylor, and Royce. They are also proud grandparents to Micah, Kensley, Enzo, and Delaney.
Funeral Director/ Pre-Planning Counselor
Trista Pepper joined the team at Wright’s Funeral Parlor in October 2019 and quickly became a trusted and compassionate presence for the families we serve. Known for her attention to detail and steady heart, Trista brings both professionalism and warmth to every service she helps coordinate.
A Harper High School honors graduate (Class of 2017), Trista continued her education at the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service, graduating in October 2023. She earned her Texas Funeral Director license in January 2024 — a proud milestone that reflects her dedication to this calling.
Trista married Christopher Pepper in April 2024, and the couple recently became first-time homeowners in Kerrville. When she’s not at the funeral home, Trista enjoys golfing with Christopher and is currently learning to play the piano — a quiet passion that mirrors her thoughtful and patient nature. She is also an active member of the Kerrville Women’s Chamber.
Trista is honored to serve the Hill Country community and considers it a privilege to walk beside families during such meaningful moments of remembrance.
Funeral Assistant
Carrie Pruitt joined the staff at Wright's Funeral Parlor in August 2024. A proud graduate of Tivy High School and Schreiner University alumnus, Carrie has called this community home since 1990. With her compassionate approach, she enjoys connecting with families and learning about the lives of their loved ones, helping to create beautiful memorials that honor their unique stories.
Carrie’s greatest joy in life has been raising her four children—Lauryn, Meagan, and twins Carlie and Chase—alongside her husband, Ronnie. Each day, they fill her life with laughter, fun and delightful surprises. She cherishes every moment spent with family, finding true fulfillment in their shared experiences and adventures.
In her free time, Carrie loves embarking on solo road trips with good loud music. A fan of true crime documentaries, she also enjoys exploring historical cemeteries, where she finds a unique connection to the past. These interests reflect her passion for storytelling and her appreciation for history.
Carrie is an active member of the Kerr County Historical Commission, where she shares her enthusiasm for preserving local history. Additionally, she volunteers with The Dietert Center as a Meals on Wheels driver, demonstrating her commitment to serving her community and making a positive impact in the lives of others.
Apprentice/ Funeral Assistant
Wright’s Funeral Parlor is proud to introduce Danielle Lang, who has recently embarked on her journey to becoming a funeral director. She is currently attending Northeast Texas Community College and is expected to graduate in 2027. As she begins her internship with us, we are excited to support her growth in this meaningful profession.
Before stepping into the funeral profession, Danielle spent 20 years as a talented tattoo artist and local shop owner in Kerrville, TX, leaving a lasting mark on the community—both literally and figuratively! A dedicated and successful single mother to her 13-year-old son, she balances her busy schedule with a love for painting, reading, and spending time outdoors. Recently, she has taken up fishing, adding another adventure to her list of hobbies.
We are thrilled to have Danielle as part of the Wright’s Funeral Parlor family and look forward to seeing her flourish in this new chapter!

Owner (1937-2019)
Bobby Jack Wright helped his daughter Cynthia open the funeral home in 2000. He was a valued member of the business; helping with daily operations and transportation needs of the business. Jack helped over see all the remodeling at the funeral home and the expansion of the building. Our family was blessed to have him help us grow the business in the Hill Country.
Upon his passing in early 2019, he was proud to leave behind five generations and got to see the birth of his great-great grandchildren.
